8 weeks old!!!

This is crazy, the kid just keeps growing and growing and looks like he'll be crawling and getting teeth before we know it.  He has been a bit fussy this week, but we still love him!  He also has started smiling a lot too!

We started out the week with a nice walk, even though it was a bit chilly out, because it was one of the last nice days to come for the first part of the week.  It snowed a little bit and got real cold, so we stayed in for a few days.

This weekend was eventful and full of social interaction for the kid.  Grandma and Grandpa came over to play with the kid, so Julie and I planted our garden, cleaned the house and enjoyed sitting outside with the family.  That night Jim called to invite us to Old Chicago where we met Amanda and the kids.  Noah got to eat his bottle at the same time everyone else was eating, he felt so grown up! On Sunday we had breakfast with Julie's friends, Jenny and Emily, and Emily's three kids.  Emily's kid Liam is only 9 months old, but he looks so much bigger than Noah.  We can't believe that Noah will be that big soon.  Finally, Sunday night our neighbors John and Christine came over with some wine and cheese and hung out with the kid.  Unfortunately, Noah was really fussy, so they cut their stay short, but we'll hang again soon.

On Wednesday, Noah has his 2 month checkup, which involves him getting a lot of vaccinations, so he will be quite grumpy unfortunately.  We'll try to update again soon, here are the pictures from the week!

Week 7!!!!

It is almost weird to say that our kid is almost 2 months old, but here we are!  This week we got to spend a lot of time with our friends and family and even had a BBQ, Noah's first one!!!  Other than that, not a lot has been going on with the kid.  Julie has been wonderfully executing the duties of Mom and I have been spending my days at work waiting to get home and see my son and wife.

TWD: Baking with Julia - Madeleines

I'm kind of surprised I actually got this one baked!  We woke up this morning and my husband wonderfully took care of the baby for his morning feeding before he went to work.  So, I had an hour to bake!   I decided to only make half the recipe.  It was a little tedious to get mixed together, there is the whipping of eggs and sugar for a few minutes, then the folding in of the sifted flour and then folding in the butter. I also do not have a Madeleine pan, so I improvised with a muffin pan.  I think they turned out alright, they are fluffy light cakes, but they don't taste like much.  The powdered sugar made them sweet, but maybe adding a different flavor like lemon would have been good or maybe even covering them with chocolate would have been delicious.  You can check out the recipe at Counter Dog and you can also check out how everyone's turned out at Tuesdays with Dorie.

6 Weeks Old!

Our baby boy is six weeks old, we can't believe he has grown so much already!  He still hasn't starting solving math equations or anything but he is much more interactive than he was just last week. Mikey and I had our first date sans kid last Saturday night, and we didn't even call Grandma once to check on him!  I have taken him for walks around the neighborhood and we stop by Starbucks and he just looks around so intently at everything the whole time we are inside.  I also think he has started to watch things on the TV while he sits with us.  He also enjoys spending time on his play mat, although after about ten minutes he starts to get a little pouty and sticks out his bottom lip and then starts to cry.  And that's about it for an update on the kiddo!

One Month and Easter

Well, we have had a busy week!  Mikey went back to work starting on Monday, so I was left to figure out how to handle Noah all by myself.  We ended up taking him to the Dr. on Tuesday because he kept having screaming fits when we fed him and it turns out that babies can have acid reflux, so the little guy got his first prescription, and so far I think it has been helping him not hate life when we try to burp him.

On Tuesday, extended family also made their way into town!  I don't think it was all for Noah, but we don't have to tell him that.  He got to meet two of his Great Aunts, a Great Uncle and two second cousins.  I hope everyone got in enough time holding the little guy, I didn't even have to pay attention to where he was when we were visiting!  There are a ton of pictures for this blog, so hopefully they will tell of the last week on their own.

We did go to the Dr. for the one month check-up this morning and his official stats are that he is now 8 pounds 8 ounces and 22 inches long.  He is growing so quickly to me and Mikey, before we know it he will be running around the house! The Doctor said he looked good and that he was very attentive to what the doctor was doing.  Noah did get a shot today and he screamed his little head off so loud that the lady at the front desk on the other side of the office said they could hear him.

Enjoy the pictures!
